This policy describes how backups work for journals hosted with CyberDairy.

Backup Frequency

Hosted installations receive automated backups on a schedule determined by your hosting tier — see the OJS Hosting pricing page for tier-specific details.

Restoration Testing

We periodically test that backups actually restore successfully, rather than assuming a backup file is valid simply because it exists.

Retention

Backup retention periods vary by plan tier. Extended retention can be arranged for institutions with specific record-keeping requirements.

Your Responsibility

If your journal is not hosted with us, backups are your responsibility unless separately arranged. We strongly recommend maintaining your own independent backup regardless of hosting provider.

Restoration Requests

To request a restoration from backup, contact us with the approximate date and what was affected. Restoration timing depends on the scope of what needs to be recovered.
